THE MARRIAGE MECHANIC

ABOUT SCOTT

With regard to his reason for being a Marriage Life Coach, Scott says, "My mission is to provide you with the motivation, insight, and resources necessary from a Christian perspective to enable your marriage to reach the "mountaintop".  Cindy and I believe wholeheartedly that ANY COUPLE can reach the "mountaintop" in their married relationship, regardless of past issues!  We've seen enough miracles in couples' marriages to know this is true!"

Rev. Scott and Cindy Minnich have counseled couples (both inside and outside the church) for over 15 years.

Rev. Minnich has pastored for over 18 years, both as a church planter in New Jersey and as an Associate Pastor in Central Pennsylvania.

In those years, Scott and Cindy have led nearly 25 marriage enrichment classes (13 weeks long).  In addition, Scott counseled numerous couples
one-on-one.  They have seen consistently positive results from their work with over 200 couples (see testimonial page).  In addition, Scott recently completed 300 hours of one-on-one counseling with 18 couples as part of his doctoral program.

However, while Scott continues to work toward his licensure as a state-certified Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), he is not yet licensed as a marriage therapist.

Rev. Minnich earned a Bachelor's Degree from Princeton University and a Master of Divinity Degree (M.Div.) from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (with honors).

Currently, Scott is a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) student at Denver Seminary in Marriage and Family Counseling and expects to graduate in the fall of 2014.  Cindy also has a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (M.A.T.S.) in Pastoral Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Scott and Cindy have been married 23 years and have 3 children, ages 18, 15, and 11.

OUR ROCKY MARRIAGE BEGINNING:

Unlike what some people may think, Cindy and I know what it is like to be in a really UNHAPPY relationship.

Like most young couples, we were married with the prospect of bright hopes and sunny skies ahead.  In fact, the minister who married us said that we were the most compatible couple they had ever married.

Well, it didn't take long for us to realize that our compatibility was just a facade.  In fact, by the 6th month in our marriage, we were in DEEP trouble.  One of us wanted out of the relationship and the other one was not very happy.

It was at that moment that we made a crucial decision. We talked one night and came to the following conclusion: "Listen, we are both Christians. Therefore, for us, divorce is not an option. As a result, we are left with two choices. We can either remain miserable the rest of our lives OR we can work on finding our way to a mountaintop marriage."

The choice seemed simple to us. Who wants to remain miserable? So, we chose to embark on a journey to get our marriage to the mountaintop.

And, it has been just that ~ a journey.  Now, don't make any mistake about it ~ it has been work as well!!  Plenty of it!!  But, we would both say that the hard work pales in comparison to the amazing joy of living life with your best friend in a mountaintop marriage.

Some of you may feel hopeless or without a plan of action to get to the mountaintop.  We know your feelings. We've been right where you are!

However, you don't need to remain at that place of hopeless despair.  We wholeheartedly believe that ANY marriage can get to the mountaintop.

And, we can help.  We've plowed our way up the mountain over these last 20 years, and we can help you do the same.

So, what are you waiting for?  Isn't it time to trade the misery for some real and lasting joy in your married relationship?
